Mo Mo | Losing Weight is Overrated

Ever since #RoadToSub300 started, my main goal was to lose weight. Come to think of it, even during that reality show in 2011, the main goal was to lose weight and the means to getting there is basically thrown up in the air.

Well, that’s not entirely true. Back then, we were given a whole list of things that we can and cannot eat and that was it. Sure, we were given some short explanations on why it had to be that way but the bottom line was that, we simply needed to eat less than what we were used to, period.

Fast forward to when #RoadToSub300 started. I pretty much thought I got this whole weight loss thing all figured out to find out after 1 year that I was doing it all wrong.

July 2014 to November 2014 I was able to safely lose 45 pounds and it was not because I was trying to lose weight.

I simply did what I loved doing; Yoga and CrossFit. I did a lot of it and I became pretty good at it.

October 2014 I decided to try my hand at juicing; an all natural nutrition regimen where all I took in was the good nutrients that our bodies naturally produce but stopped producing thanks to age.

During that period, I was not aiming to lose weight but to live a healthy life. I was giving myself 7-8 hours of sleep everyday. I ate what was right to the point where my body was naturally looking for it to the point where it would react violently if it didn’t.

Stop-weighing-yourself-2Exercise is there not to make you lose weight but to strengthen your body. Yoga gave me flexibility and focus while CrossFit gave me strength and endurance. Couple that with eating right and give yourself proper nutrition and you’re set for life. In this formula, weight loss is simply the by-product.

Not thinking of losing weight makes you lose weight. Provided that the prerequisites have been met.

So, throw away the scale, simply eat right, and sweat a little. It’ll be fun.

This new blog is dedicated to living healthy and staying strong. Losing weight is just a by product.

Mind you, I will still be weighing myself. Being over 300 pounds is not healthy. Once I hit below 300, I’ll throw away the scale.
